Tibialis Posterior Tendinopathy
- Overuse injury of the tibialis posterior muscle
- Thought to be due to degeneration of the tendon rather than acute inflammation
- May cause pain on the inside of the foot that may radiate along the course of the muscle
- The Tibialis Posterior Muscle runs down the back of the leg and under the foot
Symptoms of Tibialis Posterior Tendinopathy
- Pain on the inside of the foot that radiates up the leg
- Pain when rolling the foot outwards
- In more advanced cases of Tibialis Posterior Tendinopathy, the arch of the foot begins to drop and your foot looks like it has “flattened”.

- Advise on posterior tibialis exercises to strengthen the muscle and tendon
- Prescribe orthotics if required to correct
